The Yaksha asked: "What is the greatest wonder in the world?"
Yudhishthira replied: "Every day, men see creatures depart with the Lord of Death and yet, every man lives as if he is immortal. This is the greatest wonder in the world."
~ Mahabharata (The Classic Epic from India)
The Bridge To Acceptance
The first bridge takes you to the land of Acceptance and is, in fact, the easiest to cross; you wouldn't be reading this unless you were at least already standing on this bridge.
Acceptance is simply the recognition that possessions and achievements will not bring you lasting peace and happiness. Instead, you accept that the answer lies beyond the physical world and you begin to look for that answer in the mystical rather than the mundane.
Acceptance is not an exercise in depression; it is a realization that points you in the direction you need to go. In the beginning, all that you may understand is that "there has to be more to life." But it is this feeling of discontent, "the dark night of the soul," that pushes you onward to seek an answer from within.
In time, you discover the answer within your own heart. This realization begins to dawn once you cross the next bridge,
I think everybody should get rich and famous and do everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that it's not the answer.
One day your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure its worth watching.
Wealth is the ability to fully experience life.
I'd like to live as a poor man with lots of money.
So many people spend their health gaining wealth, and then have to spend their wealth to regain their health.
Fear of death increases in exact proportion to increase in wealth.
Wealth, like happiness, is never attained when sought after directly. It comes as a by-product of providing a useful service.
Naked a man comes from his mother’s womb, and as he comes, so he departs. He takes nothing from his labor that he can carry in his hand.
